Christmas donations 2020 to Ukraine and Belarus from Candle of Grace

2020 has been a chaotic year with the global disruption of COVID 19 and similar to all charities, Candle of Grace suffered a lot of fall out. Fundraising could not take place with the cancellation of quizzes, bucket collections and other activities which deprived us of sources of income. Visits to orphanages were put on hold and devastatingly, Mayo host families could not receive children from Chernobyl area for the annual hosting. This is one of the main activities of the Charity. Children from polluted areas stay in Ireland for three weeks and are treated to the holiday of a life time. This really affords them added longevity to their physical health and their emotional well-being. Many children were left disappointed because of the travel bans due to COVID -19. However the Charity continues to support Children from both side of Chernobyl border, in Ukraine and Belarus, and Christmas 2020 was no exception. A   load of 1500 kg with Parcels and Christmas shoeboxes was sent to orphanages and schools that we continue to support on a regular basis. We also sent parcels to the Orphans of War and deprived areas and low income families in the Ukrainian/ Belarusian regions. Again we are so grateful to all the kind people of Mayo and especially to Leitir/Islandeady community for their support along with all the volunteers and families who support us all year round. Without this support, we could not do the work we do.
